Pixel Buds Bug Makes ANC and Transparency Controls Disappear for Some Users

Pixel Buds ANC controls bug

Pixel Buds ANC controls bug is causing frustration for some owners after the toggles for noise cancelation, transparency, and off modes reportedly disappeared from the expanded volume slider menu. The issue does not completely break the earbuds, but it does remove one of the more convenient ways to switch modes.

Some Pixel Buds users say the noise controls have vanished

Android Authority reports that affected users are turning to Reddit to describe a bug that removes the ANC, transparency, and off toggles from the extended volume slider menu. The problem appears when users tap the three-dot menu beneath the volume bar, where those controls would normally appear.

Users say the issue first showed up around the March 2026 update. One report claims that rebooting devices, clearing cache and app data, re-pairing the earbuds, and adjusting settings did not fix the glitch. Some users thought the April update solved it, only for the problem to return.

The bug is inconvenient even if other controls still work

Pixel Buds owners can still switch modes by touching and holding an earbud until the chime confirms the change, so the bug does not remove every noise-control option. But it does make the software experience noticeably worse, especially for users who rely on the phone-side controls for quick mode switching.

That kind of issue matters because Google positions Pixel Buds as a tightly integrated part of the wider Pixel ecosystem. When a basic convenience feature disappears, it raises broader concerns about software quality and update reliability.

Why Google will need to address it quickly

For now, Google has not publicly explained the issue, though Android Authority says it has reached out for comment. If the glitch is tied to the March and April updates, a wider fix may need to arrive through another software patch rather than through user troubleshooting.

Even small bugs like this can become persistent annoyances when they affect everyday controls. For Pixel Buds users, that makes this one worth watching.
