Google Photos Adds Quick Facial Touch-Up Tools for Android Users

Google Photos is rolling out a new set of facial touch-up tools designed to make quick portrait edits easier on Android. The update adds several targeted enhancements that let users refine facial details with a few taps inside the Google Photos editor.

According to GSMArena, the new options include tools for healing blemishes, smoothing skin texture, brightening under-eye areas, adjusting irises, whitening teeth, refining eyebrows, and enhancing lips. Each effect can be applied to a selected face in a photo and then adjusted for intensity.

What’s new in the Google Photos editor

The goal appears to be speed and simplicity rather than full manual retouching. Google describes the additions as subtle touch-up tools, giving users faster ways to improve selfies and portraits without leaving the Photos app for a separate editing tool.

That matters because Google Photos has increasingly become more than just a gallery app. It is now one of Google’s most important consumer AI and editing platforms, with features that blend convenience, automation, and lightweight control.

Availability and device requirements

The feature is reportedly rolling out globally through the Google Photos app for Android devices running Android 9 or later, as long as the phone has at least 4GB of RAM. That should make the update available to a wide range of mid-range and flagship devices.

For users who regularly edit portrait shots on their phones, the update adds another layer of polish to Google Photos without requiring advanced editing skills.
