Galaxy Z Fold 8 Leak Points to a Smaller Selfie Camera Cutout on the Outer Display

Galaxy Z Fold 8 selfie camera cutout details have surfaced in a new leak, suggesting Samsung may reduce the size of the front-facing camera hole on the outer display. While the change sounds small on paper, it points to another round of design refinement for Samsung’s next foldable flagship.

The outer display cutout could get noticeably smaller

According to 9to5Google, citing Ice Universe, Samsung is expected to shrink the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s selfie camera cutout on the outer display from 3.7mm on the Fold 7 to 2.5mm on the Fold 8. Side-by-side comparisons reportedly make the change easy to spot, even if the adjustment sounds minor at first glance.

In practical terms, the tweak would help reclaim a little more screen space and make the camera opening less visually distracting. That kind of detail may not redefine the foldable experience, but it does fit Samsung’s ongoing habit of polishing the industrial design of each generation.

Why some users may want bigger upgrades first

The leak also raises a broader question: how much do users actually care about the selfie camera cutout compared with bigger everyday issues? Foldable buyers have been asking for better heat management, longer battery life, stronger dust resistance, and more meaningful refinements around the hinge and crease.

That means a smaller camera hole may be welcome, but it is unlikely to rank high on the wish list unless Samsung also delivers improvements in areas that affect daily usability more directly.

If the report is accurate, Samsung is continuing to treat the Galaxy Z Fold line as a product of gradual refinement rather than radical yearly redesign. Small hardware adjustments can help the Fold series feel more polished, but they also put more pressure on the company to prove that the full package is evolving in meaningful ways.

For now, the smaller cutout is just one more clue about where the Galaxy Z Fold 8 may be heading. Whether buyers care will likely depend less on the camera hole itself and more on what else Samsung improves around it.
